Scope and Contents
This group of records includes two scrapbooks of Labrador Retriever clippings from dog publications and one photo album, numerous loose photographs and slides of Labrador Retrievers. Photographs include win shots, candids, portrait and profile snapshots, puppies, photographs with children, and field hunting. Many of the photographs in this collection were considered or used for Dorothy Howe's book, root>

Materials Specific Details
Includes win shots, some by photographers William Gilbert and Evelyn Shafer, including a few Westminster Kennel Club show win shots from the 1950s and 1960s. Also present are casual candid photographs of various Labrador Retrievers. Nearly all photographs have identifying information notated on versos, which may include dog's name, breeder, owner, pedigree notes, and date. Some also include notations made by Dorothy Howe. Notably, there is one photograph of a Labrador Retriever guiding a blind student off a school bus. These photographs were used for Dorothy Howe's breed publication, root>
