T-116-Ch Tirvelda Evensong and Ch McCamon Marquis, ROM, Kentucky IS Spec, 1978
Scope and Contents
Thi series consists of photographs documenting the history and development of the Irish Setter breed, predominantly focusing on American and Canadian championship "win shots" from the 1940s to the present. The materials capture well-known and dual champions in conformation and field events. Present in the collection are historical photographs used by William Thompson in his book This Is the Irish Setter, original artwork, field photographs, and candid event images. Among these are photographs from the 1962 dog-attended premiere of the film Big Red, organized by the Irish Setter Club of Milwaukee. Represented within the collection are photographs from many kennels and bloodlines, including Draherin, Kinvarra, Thenderin, Kimberlin, Shawnee, Verbu, Tyronne Farm, Runwild, and Tirvelda, among others. This collection was established by Maureen A. Day, who serves as Historian for the Irish Setter Club of America.
