The Wilbur E. Henry "Red" collection of Beagle research materials (1878-1975) documents Henry's interest in the history, breeding, and training of hunting dogs. Included are original pedigrees, correspondence, notes, pamphlets, pictures, and ephemera assembled by Henry over the years. Highlights are early 20th-century ephemera, advertisements, field trial records, pedigrees, photographs, and correspondence related to prominent Beagles.
Collection includes a photograph of Mrs. Bissell and her Basset pack competing at Bryn Mawr; correspondence, including attempts to import hounds from England and France; pedigrees; a 1971 clipping on Beagle packs in the Wilmington, Delaware "Evening Journal;" and registration, litter, and championship certificates. The bulk of the materials relate to Basset Hounds, though Beagles are also featured.
