Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

The German collection, compiled by the DPCA Archives Committee from member donations, consists of German-language periodicals and books about Doberman Pinschers (Dobermann-Pinschers in German) and German club yearbooks. Also included is a scrapbook of Ch. Troll von der Engelsburg and Ch. Asta von der Domstadt, notable Doberman imports from Germany.

Access Restrictions

Two document boxes comprising governance files and National Specialty records are restricted and inaccessible due to the presence of inactive mold. Please see the archivist for details. The rest of the This collection is open to research without restrictions.

From the Collection: 141.52 Linear Feet (170 boxes) : in 64 document boxes, 6 legal-sized boxes, 7 cartons, 56 flat photo/folder boxes, 2 photo album boxes, 5 DVD/CD boxes, 1 slide box, 33 oversize boxes of varying sizes.

Note

Donated by William (Bill) Haines. Ch. Troll von der Engelsburg was whelped in Germany, sired by Int. Ch. Muck von Brunia, and became a tri-international champion (American, Canadian, German) and held the title of World Sieger. Ch. Asta von der Domstadt, also whelped in Germany and sired by Muck, also became an international champion (American, German).

This scrapbook notably includes Troll and Asta's championship certificates and other awards, AKC Stud Book registration certificates, pedigrees, a listing of Troll's offspring and their accomplishments, Troll's stud brochure with a listing of all titles and other information, and photographs of Mr. and Mrs. Bornstein, Troll, Asta, and their offspring. Some items are in German. The scrapbook also has a section with documents and photographs of guide dogs for the blind, along with a Path-Finder Guide Dogs, Inc. membership certificate for E. Bornstein.

Processing Information

These items were removed from a very poor condition scrapbook and placed in an archival folder in the same order found in the scrapbook.
