Video on DVD and VHS. Pontchartrain Kennels, c. 1920-1950
Scope and Contents
Marjorie, a/k/a Maggie, Hilliard (1905-1993) of Michigan was a one-litter breeder (Hilmar), owner, exhibitor, judge, and rescuer of Doberman Pinschers since her family first brought Dobermans back from Europe in the late 1920s. Maggie was active in the DPCA, the DPC of Michigan, and Doberman rescue.
Maggie's father was good friends with Glenn S. Staines of Pontchartrain Kennels in Detroit, Michigan, and they worked together showing and caring for Dobermans. Footage from the kennel is included in this collection, along with Staines' collection of Doberman news clippings and a scrapbook about the Glenn S. Staines Memorial Trophy. A framed postage stamp from the Philippines with a Doberman Pinscher donated by Maggie Hilliard is included, as is a scrapbook compiled in Maggie's memory that honors her contributions to the Doberman Pinscher breed.
