Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

This collection consists of several scrapbooks and loose news clippings, correspondence, and periodicals featuring Ch. Rancho Dobe's Storm. Bred by Brint and Vivian Edwards of Rancho Dobe Kennels in California in December 1949, he was purchased as a puppy by Len Carey of New York City, where he lived in a high-rise apartment building with the Carey family. Storm was the grandson of Ferry v. Raufelsen of Giralda, who was the 1939 Best in Show winner at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Following in his footsteps, Storm won the Westminster Best in Show title in 1952 and 1953. During his short show career, in just 25 shows entered, Storm won 25 Best of Breed titles, 22 Best of Group titles, and 17 Best in Show titles during a very short show career. He later sired many sons and daughters that went on to be successful in show rings in the United States and Britain. Storm's Best in Show ribbons are framed and included in this collection, along with a painting of his standing profile. Storm's owner, Len Carey, was a prominent judge of dog shows.
