4. Rupert Kennels records, 1906-1970s, bulk: 1950s-1970s

This grouping contains records compiled by Dorothy Howe for breeding Labrador Retrievers under the Rupert Kennels name. Ms. Howe kept extensive correspondence with prospective breeding partners, often mentioning certain traits she desired in her breedings. She also compiled numerous pedigrees of Labrador Retrievers from various kennels, often making notations on the pedigrees as to colors, whelp dates, litter results, health, traits, and related information. Ms. Howe's meticulous records also include notes on specific dogs and a list of Rupert Kennels champions, as well as a collection of clippings of Rupert Kennels dogs in dog publications.
