Scope and Contents
Files are composed of a wide range of materials collected by or submitted to the AKC Library & Archives. They primarily consist of correspondence between club or breed representatives and AKC executives or departments, as well as internal memoranda. Topics include breed recognition, club establishment, revisions to breed standards or classifications, and matters related to breed stud books, registration of foundation stock, and judge education.
Also frequently present are parent and regional breed club materials, such as constitutions, bylaws, membership lists, illustrated breed standards, distribution materials, meeting minutes, and other administrative documents. Additional materials may include breed histories, pedigrees, pamphlets, small books, ephemera (such as stud cards and holiday cards), small artwork, candid photographs, and show materials.

Includes breed standard, picture postcards, correspondence with Elizabeth Ricker and Julien A. Hurley, "Faithful Friends" pamphlet (1931) by AKC with image of sled dogs, Fairbanks Kennel Club information brochure (1931). Also 1929 correspondence to Henry Bixby regarding dividing Sporting Group into hunting and coursing.
