Content Description

The Muskogee Kennel Club is an American Kennel Club licensed, all-breed dog club in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The Muskogee Kennel Club Collection consists of photographs from the club's all-breed dog shows from 1974 to 1999 and one show catalog from 2004. There is typically one set of show photographs per year, although some years have photographs from two shows, one in spring and one towards year end. The photographs include 8 by 10 inch color win shots of group winners and, occasionally other award winners. Some years also include 4 by 6 inch candid photographs from the show and a contract between the Muskogee Kennel Club and a show photographer. All shows were photographed by Don Petrulis of Granbury, Texas, except the 1999 show, which was photographed by Lambert Photography of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The collection also includes a catalog from the club's May 2004 all breed dog show.

Arrangement

The collection's arrangement maintains the chronological order in which the photographs were found. The single catalog in the collection follows the photographs.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Collection was donated by the Muskogee Kennel Club in 2012.

Processing Information

Photographs were originally in photo albums of varying condition, most of which were magnetic albums. Each album contained photographs from one dog show. Photographs were removed from the albums, with smaller prints placed in envelopes and included with the larger prints in acid-free folders and flat photograph boxes. If more than one show's photographs are included in a folder, each show's photographs were placed in separate paper slings before being placed in the folder.
