American Kennel Club Foreign Registration Department correspondence
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of correspondence and related records between the American Kennel Club and foreign entities responsible for dog registries in their countries. Topics may be broad, such as agreements between the AKC and the foreign entity regarding recognition of that country's registrations; or topics may related to a specific dog at issue. Correspondence about multiple breeds may be included in a foreign registry's file.
Files are mostly labeled by foreign entity, e.g., "Japan Kennel Club." Some include more specific descriptions of the folder's contents, e.g., "Japan Kennel Club, Akita registrations." Some folders are labeled more broadly, such as "Foreign registries, non-breeding agreements."
