The collection documents the club's activities since its founding in 1936, and is fairly comprehensive in nature. Highlights include meeting minutes dating back to the beginning; catalogs, photographs, and correspondence files for National Specialties from the early 1970s through early 2000s; comprehensive runs of the club newsletters and handbooks; and an extensive series of photographs and negatives, sometimes accompanied by pedigrees, depicting important dogs of the breed.
Thomas M. Gately papers
The Thomas M. Gately papers collect photographs, correspondence, clippings, and other documents related to the Gatelys' handling and kennel business with a focus on photographs of their prize-winning dogs. The majority of the photographs are "win shots" and the majority of the documents are books, receipts, correspondence, and clippings related to the kennel and handling business. There are also some photographs and documents related to the Gatelys' personal life.

Missy Yuhl collection of dog show photography
The collection chronicles the over-25-year career of preimminent dog show photographer Missy Yuhl. It contains her negative files, chiefly win shots, from dog shows between 1974 and 1996. The bulk of the images are from shows west of the Missipippi River.
Alton Anderson collection of dog photography
All breeds recognized by the AKC at this time period are represented. Most images are head or full-body portraits. Original folders contain photographic print and negative elements, as well as contact sheets. Order forms for film may be of assistance in dating and ID-ing images. A fairly comprehensive set of photo release forms, arranged by group, is also present and can be used for identification purposes.
