Abstract

The Irish Setter Club of America collection chronicles one of the AKC's oldest clubs, consisting of meeting minutes and other administrative documents dating as far back as 1918, a photograph collection of prominent champions, applications for the Irish Setter Genetic Registry, and audiovisual footage of 21st-century national specialties.

Scope and Contents

The collection contains photos, pamphlets, a stud card, news clippings, and other publications on Otto Pohl and his Irish Setters. This includes depictions of some of the most prominent Irish Setters of the 20th century and commentary by A.F. Holchwalt, the author reknowned for "The Modern Setter."

The collection was assembled by Joe Rule, an admirer of Pohl's dogs.

Abstract This collection includes one folder of color and black and white photographs of Irish Setters taken by Dr. Wolfgang A. Casper, an active member of the Irish Setter fancy. Also included are ink drawings (some appear to be original sketches, others reproductions) by Lillian Tiffany, well-known sketch and portrait artist of pure-bred dogs.
