7.11 Larry and Shirley Clardy collection, 1967-1975

Scope and Contents

Larry and Shirley Clardy of St. Joseph, Missouri, owned and bred Doberman Pinschers as Castle Lane Kennel. The Clardys notably bred Castle Lane Querida Miranda Centre and Shirlee of Castle Lane, Futurity winners at the DPCA's National Specialty shows in 1972 and 1973, respectively. The collection contains pedigrees, a scrapbook, and photographs of the Clardys' Dobermans, as well as photographs of Larry Clardy's winning picks as a judge. Also included is a watercolor painting of Damasyn the TartnSweet, dam of at least eight champions. Larry Clardy was a show judge as well, and his judge's patch from the 1967 National Specialty show was donated to this collection. A head study painting, attributed to John Brueggeman, is also included.

Access Restrictions

Two document boxes comprising governance files and National Specialty records are restricted and inaccessible due to the presence of inactive mold. Please see the archivist for details. The rest of the This collection is open to research without restrictions.
