Scope and Contents This grouping contains records compiled by Dorothy Howe for breeding Labrador Retrievers under the Rupert Kennels name. Ms. Howe kept extensive correspondence with prospective breeding partners, often mentioning certain traits she desired in her breedings. She also compiled numerous pedigrees of Labrador Retrievers from various kennels, often making notations on the pedigrees as to colors, whelp dates, litter results, health, traits, and related information. Scope and Contents Eleanor Houston (nee Hill) Carpenter was an early importer of Doberman Pinschers from Germany in the mid to late 1930s, including notable Dobermans Ch. Cherloc v. Raufelsen and Ch. Assy von Illerblick, and produced many champions as a breeder. Carpenter also wrote educational articles on Dobermans and was active in the DPCA and as a judge. Scope and Contents William ("Bill") T. Haines was a Doberman owner, exhibitor, handler, and breeder in the late 1950s-1960s through his Michigan kennel, Checkmate Kennels and co-breeder/co-owner Jack F. Hronek.
