Scope and Contents

William ("Bill") T. Haines was a Doberman owner, exhibitor, handler, and breeder in the late 1950s-1960s through his Michigan kennel, Checkmate Kennels and co-breeder/co-owner Jack F. Hronek. His breeding collaboration with Toledobes produced generations of champion Dobermans and foundation for start-up kennels.

This collection includes several scrapbooks mainly dedicated to Ch. Alemaps Checkmate, but also containing photographs of Haines' other Dobermans. In addition, there are a scrapbook, photographs (candid and win shots), and a folder containing correspondence, pedigrees, and other records of various Dobermans and Haines' Checkmate Kennels.

Access Restrictions
